Sometimes called demineralization, deionization is a sophisticated process that involves two types of synthetic beads which are used to attract positive or negative ions in the water. Ions, which are electrically charged particles, then attach to the beads as the water flows through the beads. The beads will have to be re-charged periodically to remove the attached ions.
